World Youth Day 2008

Today marks the 4th Day of the celebration of the World Youth Day 2008 held in Sydney from July 15-20, 2008. A live re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross" at major landmarks of the city is scheduled as the main highlights of today's activities. Pilgrims are expected to gather with the faithfuls from around the globe including delegation from the Philippines (Photo shows the Philippine delegation, Courtesy of http://www.worldyouth.philippinesnsw.com/)

Gatherings of the faithfuls such as this WYD 2008 is a kind of opportunity to develop bonds especially among the youth from across all cultures of the planet. The celebration specifically calls everyone not only the youth to become witnesses of the faith throughout the world as Pope Benedict XVI highlighted the text "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses" (Acts 1:8)

This is not only a challenge for the WYD 2008 participants but for every Christians, Catholics or not, being partakers of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Good News of Salvation, and the Love of God for mankind. Let us all therefore support the call and become witnesses of the Spirit.
