Quality time with quality entertainment showcase

Entertainment has never been the same nowadays with the birth of advance electronics. One of which is LCD TV. As part of home improvement we suggest you consider having one.

Purchasing a 19 inch LCD TV is a wise move, and finding them from online supplier with all positive feedback from people buying a 19 inch LCD TV is a good option. Time means money these days, so you can save time and energy by looking at online price comparisons rather than looking up each brand individually or walking through all the shops.

We hope this little post could help you.

Thanks!

Spirit of Christmas

Christmas Spirit
by RLDignos

Rain may come in a hot summer day
Waves on a calm and lucid sea
Tears could fall even in revelry
And light would shine in a darkened realm
Just as Jesus, born on Christmas Day.

Jesus is the light of the Season,
a path that leads the way to salvation;
a promise fulfilled in God's dominion;
a truth that sets us free
from the chains of the evil's prisons

Hail to the Emmanuel
Sing praises and shout with glee
For our Savior has come for the banquet
Prepare the white robes and be worthy
To dine with the Spirit on Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas everyone from our family!

It's my birthday today

Wow! I just become one more year older today and there are lots of things to be grateful of.

On top of the list is the gift of life the Lord provided me and the leading of the Holy Spirit not just on me but my entire family. Second is the community that is made instrument by God for the nurturing of my spiritual gifts, especially in letting me understand my role as a child of God. Next is my family, both my own and my siblings, who always understand my shortcomings not just as a father but as a person as well. My friends who are there to support just like real blood brothers and sisters do. To all these, I thank God.

Well, birthdays are times not just for thanksgiving but for wishes too! It's my wish that God continues to sustain all these blessings he gave me. For me, that's enough and I would not ask for more of the materials. My ultimate wish is the sustenance and strengthening of my faith and for God to use me more in spreading the Good News.

I think this is enough a birthday post. If you ask me how old I am, I think age doesn't matter. God Bless You all too!

Sound environment: healthy home

We are aware that our health is pretty much affected by our environment. The rise of many diseases today are environmentally induced. Because of this it is a necessity that we protect the surrounding we live in. Much more, we have equal concern to protect our own collective home -The Earth. Adults and children must be aware of our role. We must know how much we can contribute to saving our world from the the dreaded effects and climate changes.

I appreciate so much the rise of many cause oriented groups advocating on environmental protection. And I am even more fascinated and my enthusiasm fueled when I saw this video about how a group of 12 to 13 year olds manifests their concern about the need to act on environmental protection.

Clikki's 18th b-day coming up

It's family time again and I am as excited as my daughter, Erika Claudia "Clikki," as she will turn 18 this November 8th. We may not have the treasures and material wealth but we have a lot of great friends and family to cherish and besides, life is really worth celebrating for. It's the greatest treasure we have.

18th birthdays for the girls are so memorable that it marks the turning point of their lives. It is the transition point to becoming a woman, independent, and becoming responsible.

The celebration would be simple with peers, her classmates, friends, and the Youth for Family and Life ministry with which she is an active member. Snacks would be served too.

For my part, I would be expected to give 9 revelations about my firstborn, and my wife would deliver another 9 to make the significant figure=18. Well, let's see what can I have. I promise I would them here. For now, wish my child a happy b-day! By the way, she loves blue

Thank you all.

Medical Myths

Today is Health and Family Tuesday and I will be talking about medical myth.

Are medical myths really based on ignorance of the rural people or they are based on some experiences, which, if really examined carefully would be proven true in some cases. I am talking about the local beliefs such as: sleeping on wet hair causes blindness, a fall can lead to fever; running just after eating may cause appendicitis, and many more.

In one article published in local health magazine, Dr. Antonio Protacio, a fellow of the American, French and Philippine Colleges of Chest Physicians, dismisses outrightly those myths as false, without considering that there might be some truth in it. Let us not discount the fact that before advance medicines developed, people rely on traditional medical practices that really worked. Today, many recognized that acupuncture, herbal medicines, and physical therapy are actually helpful.

Now, let’s consider some particular case. A fall per se may not cause fever but viral infection. But a fall that causes fracture may lead to a complication that causes fever. On this case, the fall is the culprit and the myth is true. Running after eating may increase the chances of having unwanted stomach tensions and illnesses. Well, I don’t believe that the myth points specifically to appendicitis, because there was no way the old fashioned folks know the disease before. Nevertheless, it is highly probable especially depending on the type of food eaten prior to the action.

I am not touching on this issue for argumentations sake. My point here is these myths, if taken seriously could be of help in preventing the occurrence of common illness and in diagnosing minor illness. For the rural folks that lack the funds and limited accessibility to advance medicines, these myths are helpful than doing nothing at all.

CFC FFL Diocese of Naval is 18 years old

Congratulations to Billiran CFC for celebrating its 18th year in serving the vineyards of the Lord on August 1-2, 2009.

Once again families from all around the island of Biliran, Philippines, who are members of the Couples for Christ, gathered in Naval, the capital town to celebrate the establishment of this Christian community in this small but remarkable island province.

Willingly and enthusiastically, with full TRUST in Jesus, couples, their young, the singles, kids, the widowed, and other members of the families, joined Spirits in thanking the Creator for all the blessings of the entire year.

The 1st day of the 2-day celebration was highlighted by an evening of talent presentations and fellowships. A parade of pedal operated tricycle, as a group's support to the environmental protection advocacy, was held in the 2nd day of the activity prior to the Holy Mass. The event was ended with a fellowship of the entire community.

The group is looking ahead for the next year of challenges and missions.

Congratulations once again!

Touch a blogger: Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino!

Several posts ago I shared a small prayer for the lady whom I considered a heroine. But now she proved to be the next Saint from this country. What made me say so? She was the first, as far as I remember, who united a country in solemn prayer today. That is aside from the fact that she was made an instrument by God in a Spirit filled peaceful revolution in 1986.

Some kind hearted people also initiated a campaign in the blog world to support "St. Corazon Aquino" through a short prayer.

If you are interested to be a part of this tribute for her, kindly follow the simple rule:

1. Create an entry entitled: “Touch a blogger: Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino!“. A link to this original entry will be appreciated, but is not required.(barriosiete.com)
2. Post a yellow ribbon in your blog for President Cory Aquino. Whatever form of yellow ribbon that your creative imagination can come up with.
3. Invite other bloggers to tie a yellow ribbon for Cory.

In addition, I encouraged every blogger to dedicate a short prayer for Cory.

He who has an ear, let him hear!

It's been another day after President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo delivered her 9th State of the Nation Address. Many are discontented of not hearing the exact phrase they wanted to hear. Words like, "I am not going to seek another government elected position after June 2010," or something more black and white about her position as president of the Republic of the Philippines and about the possible instrument of her term's extension, the "Charter Change".

GMA has declared indirectly she is not seeking extension of her position. But, what's in a word? Why do her critics wanted to hear such pronouncements? I heard these same people talk about how the President declared, in black and white, in 2001 that she would not run for the presidency, but she did. I am sure, even if Pres. Arroyo declared yesterday she would not extend her office term, the issue would be, whether she will surely do or change her mind again. And there's no end of the isssue.

What is permanent in this world is change. If a person say something today, by influence of other forces it may change in the future. Do not be decieved by words. Let us be vigilant with the actions. When the event you are afraid of is in the looming, that's the time to act. Just remember, a wolf who is ready to catch his prey would make every tactics to deceive it. If he has ears, let him hear!

God gives more than material satisfaction

Saturday is religious and community day while Sunday is family day for us who works 5 days a week. But this weekend, we combine both for community and family.

On Saturday, the music ministry of our local church group, where we join, agreed to have a rehearsal and a sort of lunch fellowship before the practice. The group had to meet at 12:00 noon at a hall in a public school where the choir leader heads. I, my partner and our little boy, Edu, arrived at the site earlier. My daughters are out of town for their respective schools and my elder son has to be left home. We were supposed to bring our packed lunch but since we have nothing to prepare (kidding, but true, LOL. That's how impoverished we are) we went there empty handed. Well, I guess there's nothing to be ashamed at. My brothers and sisters in community understand our predicament. I am just an ordinary government worker who honestly earn for my services. And I have two children in college who are self-financed by me. I am really tight financially. But then I prayed somebody would help us for the next days before the payday arrives.

But the event was great. We enjoyed the fellowship, despite having no money at all. The food was even a surplus. And the spirit of love and camaraderie was rewarding. And what was more rewarding was that God granted our petition. An elder blood brother lent me some amount for next week's provision for my students. And there's more. When we arrive home brothers from my Christian support group came at the house to celebrate our weekend prayer meeting and Bible sharing. We shared messages and happy moments together.

Then Sunday came and we served as choir during the early mass. God didn't pour the rain despite the huge rain clouds just so we can attend the church service dry. We only have our uncovered motorcycle as our transportation means. Then in the afternoon God gave us a chance to share what was left of us when a needy knocked on our door asking for something to cook for his family because he has a broken arm and can't work for money. I gave a portion of the rice (our local staple) for him. I am happy despite my condition God gave me the chance to do well.

And that's what I called satisfaction beyond any material things can offer. What a blissful weekend!

Home, family, & Satellite TV

One of the common means of family bonding in today's world is viewing TV programs together.

Despite the rise of ICT entertainment, such as computers, iPods, cellular phones, and the like. TV remained a regular source of information and as past times for young and adults. Of course, TV programming today has never been before with the rise of Satellite technology. With Satellite TV channels from all over the world can be accessed wherever you are. There are wide areas to choose from, from news, features, commentaries, soap operas, sports, movies, fashion, and name it; you have it programs. In case you are planning to set up your new Satellite TV, Satellite Information is available in the Internet. Information that would guide you on selecting the best equipment, support services, and the best Satellite TV Deals available from different providers. You can even find and compare the best prices.

There are issues, however, that needs to be addressed as far as the negative side of TV viewing is concerned. Studies have shown that TV has been so influential especially to the kids as far as marketing promotions is concerned. Certain programs influence the value formation of children who regularly watch them. Violent scenes encourages violence, dramatic scenes affects emotions, etc.

Because of these, families are encouraged to guide Satellite TV viewing of the young. With guided viewing, the negative consequences brought by the technology will be eliminated. In fact, a separate study would show that TV also shapes good character by choosing the right program.

There's no harm is taking advantage of Satellite TV technology if, in the first place the home, the family, and everyone using it considers the positive side of it.

I need doses of prayers

I purposely researched about A(H1N1) yesterday because of rumors that the school where my third child "Bambam" is studying has a student confirmed of having the infection. That rumor seemed to be worse, the student is my child's room-mate. Well, it seemed the scare is knocking on my doorstep.

But, I don't worry much since the Health Department's local officers are quick to respond and quarantined the whole dormitory. What I worried yesterday was that my child was out of physical reach. We talk by cellular phone but no outside contact was allowed. The problem was, she was out of cash to pay for her meals so she ended up without solid breakfast and lunch. After several diplomatic calls, her problem with food access was settled. For ten days they are placed under observation.

This morning the local TV News confirmed the positive infection. Since my child was among those closest to the patient they will be subjected to testing. I therefore plea once more from my friends in the blog world to utter short prayers for the safety of my child.

Influenza A(N1H1) Alert

Confirmed cases of Influenza A(N1H1) in the world is rising and the World Health Organization raised the alert to Phase 6 which considers the flu now pandemic.

But people need not panic because the end is not yet to come. All we need to do is be clean in body, in heart, and in mind and we will be spared. The A(N1H1) Influenza is not that deadly but we have to be informed about its character.

I have gone to the most reliable site which you can have information about it. Just visit World Health Organization Website about the flu virus.

Trust, a manifestation of faith

My weekend was spiritually filled as the entire family joined the Trust Weekend of the CFC Foundation for Family and Life (FFL) last April 18-19, 2009 in Tacloban City, Leyte, Philippines. Despite the problem on budget, God provided us the means so that we may also partake with the Bread of the Spirit.

The Christian way of life is not purely for oneself. The greatest part of it is shared with the community, with fellow Christians. Without the effort to mingle with the rest of God's people, a believer is likened to a seed planted in the sand; it withers with the heat of the sun. This is the reason why as a worshiper I experience the greater joy in praising God if I share them with brothers and sisters in faith. The Trust Weekend for me is one opportunity to experience more Christian community life.

The event features series of talks and sharing sessions centered on the how merciful is God and that by entrusting to Him every aspect of our lives we would find answers to our problems. It showed us the way how to manifest this trust my commissioning us to be present day prophets and challenged us to proclaim God's messages even if we would go against the world.

As Christian believer who trusted God, we have the greatest mission to embark with and that is to proclaim the inseparable commandment of loving Him and loving our neighbor and encourage the world to do the same.

Salute to All Graduates

My congratulations to all those who completed another step in the educational ladders!

I also share with the triumph and another step of challenge as my son Carlo finished High School and Bambam completing the Elementary (Grade 6) level and graduated with Honors. My little boy has his share too by completing his Kinder 1.

Congratulations to all once again.

Things around me

I am just curious of the works of God around me, so I try collecting pictures of everything I see around. I don't know the names of some of the plants and animals so I ask you friends out there to help me identify them.

We always wake up in the morning with the crows of the this white rooster from the neighborhood. We call him Waker as we recorded his voice and make it a waking sound for our cellular phone's alarm clock. I admired the shiny glittering whites of the feathers as if showing God's purity manifested in the nature He crafted. And one more thing, the fact that this animal always know when its 2:00 and 4:00 o'clock in the morning (our local time) without anybody telling them to wake up is amazing.

In the other hand, the neighborhood dog (as I am yet to have my shepherd) I used to feed with left-overs always watch from the backyard for the feeder to arrive. But we call him Watcher as he always sleep at the backyard and drives stray animals or keep other creatures from sneaking into our territory.

As I go around every morning I always see these little plants and creatures which are really good to look and observe their characteristic colors, and other things which for me are really a product of the perfect craftsmanship of a Creator.

The photos below are some of them but I don't have a name. Can you help me give them a name? Then just post your comments. Thanks!

A Glimpse of Community Works

I just want to share some of the happy moments I and my wife shared with my CFC community in one of our evangelization missions. The photos below were taken during a Christian Life Program in a rural community in Mapuyo, Kawayan, Biliran Province, PHILIPPINES.

The pictures
1. The trip (Saturday mission)
with the CFC sister wives who served as facilitators, music ministry, and prayer warriors. A 30-minute ride with a 10-seater multi-cab along a concrete road and another 1 hour along a dusty, muddy, bumpy road.
2. The music ministry conferring (with melody) on the songs to sing.
3. Sis Tess and Brod Pedi is our support couple from Cebu City Philippines. They have been with us on major events of the mission.
4. The Biliran CFC Council leaders are also with us in support of the mission. Cheers to Brod. Yaks!
5. The facilitators served also as waitresses during the dedication reception.
